Comparative Cultures Mid-Term Assessment

Curricular Competency

The curricular competency for this project is to compare and contrast continuity and change. My group researched what the art of Egypt and Mesopotamia first looked like and how it developed along the way. We could see how their art skills got better with time and the art pieces having slowly having more detail. With this we could also see the development of the trade system as they would use different exotic materials that were not from their area. With the continuity aspect, we can see how some art of both Egypt and Mesopotamia inspired other civilizations such as Greek and Rome.

Core Competency

I am reflecting on my group project on Egypt Vs. Mesopotamia. My group’s main focus was on art and sculpture. In the slide shown, part of the analysis section for the project was to reflect on the similarities and differences between Egyptian art and Mesopotamian art. I can analyze evidence to make judgements. In order to do this I had to research on both subject of Egypt and Mesopotamia individually. Then I had to compare the two and find its similarities and differences.
