Curricular Competency Explanation

A titration is a laboratory technique used to determine the concentration of a solution by reacting it with a known concentration of another solution. In this lab, titration was employed to titrate hydrochloric acid solution of unknown concentration with standardized sodium hydroxide. The endpoint, also known as the equivalence point, is the moment when the reactants have completely reacted. Indicators such as a pH indicator that changes color tells you when you are at the endpoint. The endpoint signifies the completion of the reaction, aiding in accurate concentration calculations. Our groups result where great as we have successfully completed the lab. This was indicated as our endpoint changed color.

Core Competency Reflection

I am going to be reflecting on Communication. Throughout the laboratory session, I actively engaged in facilitating communication and coordinating tasks among my peers. I assumed a leadership role by providing clear directives and assisting in various aspects, including holding equipment and searching for precise measurements. This required me to step out of my comfort zone and proactively imitate conversations with classmates to ensure the smooth execution of the lab. This experience has contributed to my communication skills and gave me a heighten level of comfort in socializing and collaborative problem-solving.
