Creating a model factory town

Creating a model factory/company town: (Information Fluency)

Name of the town: M.Vs Town

Company Name: Manjot Production.

Resources available: The Resources available are wood, coal, iron, bread, beets and potatoes.

Elements of the town: Blacksmith, Coal mine, House, Mill, Farms.

Population: 1200+

Explanation / Brief History: My town began in 1893, it grew as we started to make little houses around the mill. Then in 1899 We made our first coal mine! That boosted the population and made profit go up, Since our profit went up we decided to make a blacksmiths workshop! Our civilians were not happy because we did not pay attention to their health, so I had to spend some money on a “small church,” Then people began to clam down. By 1900 we had a population over 1200 people, it started to get hard to keep people in homes so most people became “paupers” ( poor people). Due to the increase in population, some families had their kids work at a young age sweeping chimneys. By 1989 we ended chimney sweeps because alot of the kids were getting sick with the chimney dust. By 1999, our town was not longer a town, it became a ghost town. Families moved away to cities with their kids and the ones that remained had no means of living on.

Using the software reflection (Media Fluency) A. How was the ease of access in building the town, and what software did you use specifically?

The ease of making the town was okay meaning it took longer then expected. The software I used was Minecraft.

B. Were you able to apply the skills you learned in the planning stages appropriately to a digital environment?

I was able to apply the skills that I learned in planning stages appropriately to digital environment by thinking and planning on where I was going to place each of the buildings, farms, houses, so as, the plan made sense , interims of how the town flowed and everything worked.

C. What were the sources you researched that made this an “authentic make-believe” town?

I have looked up what a “mill” looked like and used that to make a copy in the game.

D. Is there other software online that could have done the job better? Explain.

I don’t think a different site could make it easer because the other sites that i visited were way to complex and had interruptions from advertisements and other such things as copyrights and cost.
