Life Saving Measures

List and briefly explain your 3 Takeaways from the CPR, Substance Abuse and/or Naloxone presentations.

During this week’s CPR and Naloxone training we discussed many critical points and had some significant takeaways. One of the more valuable things I learned when administering Naloxone was that it isn’t harmful if you aren’t having an overdose, this means if you are in a situation where you aren’t sure if someone is overdosing you can inject them with Naloxone without any fear of harming the individual. Naloxone covers the same receptors that the drug uses, neutralizing the effect but if there is no drug in the system it will counteract nothing which isn’t harmful to the patient. Another takeaway I learned is that in a scenario where you are administering CPR you are very likely going to break the patient’s ribs, and if you do break the ribs it means you are pushing deep enough. Previously I believed that the ribs breaking only happened in specific cases and was to be avoided when in reality it is going to happen and is a good indicator of proper technique in your CPR. The final major takeaway I had from our two presentations was that Naloxone is not to be injected into the veins in the arms, but instead into fatty parts of the body: butt, thighs, and shoulders are all good examples of proper places to administer Naloxone.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection:

“I can analyze evidence to make judgments.” I demonstrated this by taking the evidence that we know and dissecting it into critical important pieces and less important information, this is an important aspect of critical thinking because it makes you take what you KNOW and decipher what you NEED from it.

Inductive/Deductive reasoning in popular games

I played wordle and you play by guessing words and if you get a letter right then it is green but if it’s yellow it’s right but in the words wrong place and if it’s grey then it’s not part of the word. The strategies i used was basically just guess and check because there’s not much strategy to it other then guessing and realizing where the letters and right and wrong. I believe it is inductive because there is no 100% answer right off the start and it’s almost impossible to get it first try but it’s not fully impossible

Life Saving Measures

CPR- While doing CPR it is vital that you make sure there is no water under or near the patient while applying the AED to them because electricity and water aren’t a good combination as we all know. During CPR you want to apply pressure directly in the centre of the chest a little bit above the nipple line because that would make it the easiest to break all of the patients ribs. You also want to call 911 while conducting CPR because it will take 3-4 minutes for any emergency services to get to the site of the accident. There are 7 overdoses a day in Canada alone per day. People can overdose multiple times after Naloxone has been applied after it has worn off in 30 minutes depending on how much drugs they’ve taken. Naloxone is free.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I can see what’s happening or what to do and i can judge what I’m going to do off of what I am seeing and i can make the right decisions off of the information that I can visually see.

Comparative Cultures Mid-Term Assessment

Collaborating

I was quite good at discussing the change and differences and similarities between Mesopotamia and Egypt in this project. I had gotten a lot of research done and there was a lot of information that I had given out during the presentation. A strength for this was finding the information because I found great information and very quickly. I believe something I could grow on is adding more interesting facts and cool items that I could’ve touched up on.

A strength I had in this project was using my great communication and collaboration skills to work alongside my partner in this project. Another part of this project I did good on was researching and finding different sources for my project. My partner and I made a pretty interesting PowerPoint although it was shorter then most, I feel like we had gotten a lot of information and had presented it very well. For the future, something I’d like to grown on is starting the researching stage a little bit sooner so that my partner and I could put more information in.

Math 11 Foundations Stats Unit Self-Assessment

Something new I have learnt in the stats unit are the formulas we have used because in my past years of math I haven’t used those formulas and they are brand new to me and easy to work with because in my past i have taken physics and we had to use formulas that work almost the exact same. I concept I understood well was the formulas and what helped me master thus concept was the fact that I had used formulas like these in physics in the past. I challenge for me this unit was using the percentages on the curve and inputting them into questions. I haven’t found a way to overcome this challenge just yet. I would like to work on doing more homework to improve my math and i would like to get more work done in class when I can.

Core Competency Reflection

Critical and Reflective Thinking.

I believe our criminal justice system should be more rehabilitative because it will possibly help some of the criminals fit in with society more and be better people. If it were my choice, I would make a facility for the less dangerous offenders and give them a choice to either get help rehabilitating in a separate facility or go to prison. The offenders who are taking part in the facility, would sleep, eat, and live in prison but a few times during the week, they would be able to go to the facility and rehabilitate. I believe my creative thinking aspect of this assignment in fairly good, but next time I would’ve liked to add more details about the facility that would be running.

Core Competency Reflection

I could’ve used my free time in class to study more and teach myself the spanish vocab better. I also could’ve asked for help from my teacher or my classmates who knew it better than me and understood most of what they were doing. I could have studied at home with my brothers because they know spanish as well and if I did not understand the words I couldve searched them up and memorized more of the vocab.

FMPC 10 Core Competency Self-Assessment

Trigonometry

This picture is of some of the Trigonometry notes we had taken during our Trigonometry unit.

My picture relates to the core competency prompts below because I based the prompts off of my image.

Communication

My strategies for collecting relevent information for specific tasks include reading through my work and doing my homework to understand the tasks at hand.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in my work and how I word my sentences. I am very good at clearly labeling my answers and my solutions on how I got those answers.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by communicating with my peers often and asking my peers and teachers questions that I either do not understand or just need a little bit of help on.

Spanish 10 Core Competency Reflection

Creative Thinking skills

My artifact: Spanish family project

I demonstrated my thinking skills by really thinking about my family and what their own personal lives are like and how I should put that into words and into a Spanish family project. After thinking about what their personal lives are like, I thought about how to put it into words in English and how I would translate those words into Spanish and make the project look and sound the best when being read. This project took lots of thinking considering I had to write many paragraphs in Spanish about my family and what they’re like.
