English 11 Poetry Reflection

My Poem

My poem discusses the beauty of the watermelon

Curricular Competencies Reflection

The purpose of this poem is to share my fondness for, in my opinion, the greatest summertime snack, with Ms. Khokhar and anybody who happens to come across it. I express my love for the fruit by describing its appearance, feel, taste, and smell. I spoke from the heart in this poem, so I believe this poem grew to become engaging on its own. I thought of myself in the exact scenario that I portrayed in the poem and imagined what the watermelon would taste like and why I would appreciate it.

Creative Thinking Core Competency Reflection

I deeply enjoy fruits and vegetables in general, but I chose watermelon because it is one of the fruits I regularly crave. Since I was able to pick the topic of the poem, I chose the fruit that I could vividly imagine and describe on paper. Setting the scene of “A scorching summer day” helped me understand why I love and crave this fruit. I also searched up pictures of watermelon to assist in describing its appearance. My goal was to incorporate many poetic devices into this poem, but at the same time, allow it to flow from beginning to end. I could have possibly added more, however, I was short on time to really sit down and make slight adjustments to my work.
