Self Reflection

Some skills that I have showcased in this project are expressing my thoughts on a certain topic, researching and looking at different perspectives. The core competency that this fills is Critical and Reflective thinking. I chose this project because it allowed me to not only research and articulate my ideas, but also to reflect on how I felt and my own ideas from past experience. During this project I learned more about Japanese Internment camps, Japan in WWII, and how people can justify things using fear.

Core Competency Reflection

I can analyze my own beliefs and consider views that do not fit with them. — As I was reading and researching for this project, I read the reasonings behind the start of the internment camps. I did not agree with this reasoning, but this allowed me to see the change in thinking and environment from then to now.

I can reflect on my thinking. — During this project I reflected on my thinking. I did this because the project was made for us to look at a moral dilemma. I expressed my thoughts in this project after I had reflected on my thinking.

I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values. — Because I did not agree with the reasoning for the internment camps, I asked myself why. This helped to me to see what is important to me and what I don’t find okay. From there, I explained what I was thinking in my project.

I inquire into and present on topics of interest and topics related to my studies. — I demonstrated this core competency because I chose this project because of my interest in it, but also because it pertained to WWII, the unit we were doing in Social Studies.
