How I utilized each Core Competency in my Minecraft Physics Project.
I demonstrated the Communication Core Competency by collaborating with all my group members in order to provide a completed project by the due date. I would ask for and provide ideas about what types of to use, as well as what should be our energy source. I communicated with my group outside of class and took on the role of being the leader so that it didn’t look rushed. In my group, I was the one who assigned people with tasks, telling them to build the volcano, or write their parts on the script.
I demonstrated the Thinking Core Competency by considering a lot of the ideas that my group brought up, and I would think about whether it made sense for the sake of the project or not. Because I’ve played plenty of Minecraft in the past, I was heavily invested in the project and would think about how to make the design look good, yet show that I put lots of research into it as well. When I noticed errors, I kept brainstorming on how to move past them, or actually utilize the errors to improve on an idea that I thought wouldn’t work.
I demonstrated the Personal/Social Core Competency by being supportive of everyone in my group. I understood that they were busy and didn’t get upset for not being able to work outside of class, as well as supporting them when they were having trouble with the project. I made sure everyone felt included and not left out, so that way they wouldn’t be bored and would instead be focused and on task. I found it easy to be a part of my group and although there were bumps along the road, I stayed respectful and made sure not to lash out at partners.
