Where the Blood Mixes Paragraph

There are many examples within the piece of literature “Where the Blood Mixes” by Kevin Loring that illustrate the character of Mooch. Clearly, Mooch is a broken person who demonstrates negative attributes throughout the story. To start, Mooch has a drinking addiction. He demonstrates this drinking addiction when he uses his wife’s money to buy more drinks for himself. Instead of taking the money and using it for what it is supposed to be used for, he decided it would be better to get wasted with his friends at the bar. Moreover, Mooch neglected the woman he loves. It was so bad for June that she had to act “crazy” in order for him to notice her. He has also broken her trust numerous times by “mooching” her money, which led her to tell him that he “breaks [her] heart”, and that she’s done with him. To conclude, Mooch is inconsiderate. This is evident when he insisted on doing an arm wrestle for a fishing spot against Floyd, even though Floyd was fishing there first. He even asks to have some of Floyd’s lunch after taking his spot. Had it not been for Floyd’s act of kindness, Mooch could have been verbally assaulted, or he could have been kicked out and forced to move somewhere else. While Mooch had a broken past, it does not justify his actions, and from the examples provided, it is clear that he is a disrespectful character.
