Anatomy and Physiology 12 Core Competency Self-Assessment

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in the pig dissection lab. I was able to explain to Trey some areas that he didn’t understand. I made it easier for him by showing him. I realized that my partner is a visual learner so, I used visuals to teach him how to find certain organs. If I was ever confused with something I made sure to ask for help. I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to make sure we communicate our ideas. We’re humans so we can’t read each other’s minds so in order to have a common purpose, we have to communicate. Before we started this lab Trey and I read the overview so that we could split the workload equally, and give roles and responsibilities. We also made sure we had a common goal; to dissect the pig without completely ruining it.

My Artifact: Final Project

I can recognize different points of view and can disagree respectfully. If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to ask for the opinion of someone outside of the group. When I don’t agree with my partner’s opinion, I find ways to disagree in a nice way. I do this by asking for a better explanation and try to get them to realize that their opinion might not make sense. I also try to help them think of a better idea to then make their opinion a more logical one.

My Artifact: Romeo and Julieta Script

Romeo and Julieta

I can understand and share information about a topic in a clear, organized way. An example of when I did this was, when Jacob, Nichita and I were working on our script. I was able to explain my ideas and the knowledge of the topic I had with my partners. I also would ask for their opinions and help when I needed it. I can also ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. I can break down my idea and make it easier for others to understand, what I am trying to say. I try to get others involved by, asking for what they think about our assignment

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in when I was explaining to my peers about where to find the Bunsen burners.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include when I had to find specific beakers and flasks in the super lab.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by asking helpful and thoughtful questions and using tools to better my understanding.
