Pork Tenderloin

My Reflection

This was a home-lab that I made with my mom. We created a creamy sauce that we baked the pork in. We paired it with rice. But I made this rice using chicken stock instead of water to give it more flavour. This was a hot for my family but unfortunitly not for me. I did not enjoy the sauce but the pork was cooked perfectly, still juicy and we had seasoned the pork before covering it in the sauce. The pork was seasoned well and the rice complimented the spices in the pork. The sauce that the pork baked in tasted better mixed in with the rice.

Nachos

My Reflection

Football Night! The football games definitely called for nachos. My dad had friends over for the football games and when they all sat down and got into the game, no one wanted to get up to make them. Sooo, I was in charge of making their nachos. I added green onions, and a mixed of mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese blend, on top of small circled chips. I baked, then broiled them to get them a little crispy.

Chicken Fijitas

My Reflection

These Chicken Fajitas turned out really good. They were well seasoned. The onions and peppers were perfectly thinly sliced. The chicken was cut well too and was a perfect balance for the peppers. The fajita seasoning was good and I made i from scratch as the peppers and chicken were still cooking. When I plated my fajita, I added sour cream and cheddar cheese.

The All American Dinner

My Reflection

This all American dinner I wanted to make included BBQ steak, caesar salad, and a baked potato. I BBQ the steak with my dad and him and I had a fun time together on the cold deck trying not to over cook the steaks. The caesar salad was a simple salad, with a less creamy dressing but a little more olive oil dressing, to change it up. The baked potato were cooked in the oven but par cooked in the microwave to make it faster. I topped the baked potato off with chives, sour cream, and bacon bits. This was a fun and different lab that i have ever done because my family and I don’t usually eat red meat very often so this was a little bit of a change.

Butter Chicken

My Reflection

This lab was one of my favourite home-labs because my grandmother came over to make the butter chicken sauce with me. This was one of her recipes she’s made for years for my father, so I had asked her to come over to help surprise my dad with this dinner. It was so much fun cooking with my grandmother and was a very new experience because she is a power-house but she trusted me and let me do most of the dinner. I had fun and my father loved this lab and dinner because it brought him back to his childhood.

Chicken Tacos

My Reflection

These chicken tacos are always a favourite in my home. This time i decided to try and make them. I had fun seasoning the chicken for it to be just right, but it was a bit too spicy. I wasn’t a fan but my dad was. This lab was a little tricky because while the chicken is cooking I wanted to get the other ingredients ready, however the ground chicken cooks very fast so I almost burnt it a few times. I did pretty well this home-lab but my family still prefers my mo to make the tacos.

Pasta and Tomato Sauce

My Reflection

For this Home-Lab i made a simple penne pasta with a tomato sauce with ground chicken. I made this lab when my mom came home and did not want to cook because she had a long, hard day from work, so i stepped up and helped her out. This tasted really good and i had seasoned the sauce and the ground chicken well. I did not over cook the pasta. My mom and the rest of my family were very appreciative for me, and what I had done.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

My Reflection

These muffins were not my best. I’m unsure if i missed baking soda or baking powder but they did not rise how I expected or wanted them too, or I could have over mixed the batter. The muffins tasted so much better warmed up with milk or coffee in the morning. I have not made muffins after this because I did not want them to turn out like this as well. These muffins were still good, however they were a little bit more dense then I had expected them to come out.

Chocolate Chunk Cookies

My Reflection

I enjoy baking, especially in my own home because it’s familiar and i like to bake alone. I had so much fun baking these cookies, and I’m very happy with how they turned out because they were even dough amounts, evenly spaced, and perfectly cooked; not too much, not under. Instead of chocolate chips, I cut up a choclate bar in small squares and added them in to the cookie dough. I liked this better but i feel like I added too much chocolate, so i would reduce it. Although they were very chocolaty, these cookies tasted amazing and balanced with a glass of cold milk.
