Dissection of fetal pig

I have the ability to collaborate with others in order to reach a shared objective. That being which to memorize the locations of specific organs. In a lab setting, I was able to effectively work with my partner by dividing the tasks evenly and completing the lab successfully. If one of us feels uncomfortable about dissecting a certain part of the pig, one of us will take the lead. During the dissection portion of the lab, we took turns cutting different parts of the pig to ensure that we both had equal amounts of cutting time and satisfaction. Additionally, my partner and I developed strategies to help each other remember the various parts of the body in preparation for the oral and written exam. For example, we took turns testing each other by naming different organs of the pig, then pointing to their specific location. This process repeats until no errors were made. During our oral exam, we made errors in naming certain organs. To improve in the future, I’d come up with better strategies like pinpointing most organs presented on the labeled picture until we can we memorize it on the top of our head.

I have the ability to use references to make informed decisions. When identifying the different parts of the pig, we used a labeled picture from our textbook and other sources of a dissected pig as a reference. I was able to use my critical thinking to determine whether the part I was examining in the picture corresponded to the organ I was evaluating. Together with visual evidence and knowledge acquired, I evaluated the location of the organ and its surrounding structures. To improve factors like time of dissection and pinpointing accuracy of organs in the future, I’d use more visually clear images of a fetal pig.

During the dissection, we knew there wasn’t enough time to fully dissect the pig in class and acquire information for our other assignments. So naturally, our goal was to complete the dissection. That meant us sacrificing our own free time like lunch, after school, and booking flex. This goal was made partially due to our own shortcomings, but in the end our work ethics persevered, finishing the goal we set. For a future event similar to this, I’ll make sure to plan accordingly.

 My Digital Photobook

I demonstrated the profile “I communicate clearly and purposefully, using a variety of forms appropriately.” I did this by attaching appropriated images when talking about a topic. To connect with the audience, i use stories and examples from my own experience and include them0 in my content. An obstacle presented itself during the initial states of the project. I was having difficulties planning the content and topic of the project. I find communication a valued skill for everyday life because it grants you the ability to express your ideas freely and clearly to others.
