I am feeling happy this Monday morning

To celebrate an accomplishment such as scoring a goal or getting a touch down, I do a celebratory dance. I will run around cheering and high five my teammates. I make sure that everyone who contributed to my goal gets a little hand shake. I look for my friends and I cheer with them. I like to have fun and celebrate my accomplishments.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle include walking to school everyday. I live about a 10 minute walk away from school so its an easy way to get my exercise in. I also play lacrosse 3 times a week and I take my dog on a 20 minute walk ever day. I like to get outside and be active for at least 30 minutes everyday.

Core Competency Reflection

I work with others to achieve a goal. I demonstrated this by huddling up with my football team and making plays. If our play worked we could celebrate and cheer.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. I show this when someone on my team scores. I cheer for them and I give them a high-five.

I find it easy to be part of a group. I show this when I collaborate with my team mates to make special plays.

I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour. I show this when I make sure that everyone on my team feels included and part of the team.

I encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives. I will work towards this by listening to what others have to say and applying it in my life. I will try my best to make them feel safe enough to share their thoughts.

The Simpsons

My Analysis

Creating and Communicating

The Simpsons taught me and helped me fully understand irony and satire. I got to see visual irony when homer bounced back into the burning house after Ned threw him out. I analyzed and saw the irony of expecting one thing and getting something different. I learned about satire through the characters. Homer is an example of how dads would rather watch tv and eat instead of watching the kids. I reread my work and got rid of unnecessary words to refine my work. I used the less is more technique to not use too many words.

Core Competency Reflection

I can describe how satire, irony and/or allusion relates to the Simpsons. I used different evidence from the show and used examples from episodes. I used examples of visual and verbal irony that I noticed in the episodes and satire of the characters.

I respectfully advocate for my needs by asking questions and getting clarification. I also talk and compare my work with my peers. I ask my peers about my work and if it needs more help. I make sure that my work meets the criteria and exceeds expectations.

I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when I write essays or take tests. In essays I am open minded to criticism to help make my work the best it can be. On tests I learn from my mistakes and i talk to my peers about how they study for tests or what they studied.

DESMOS Graphing Assignment

Linear

x=4

Domain: Any real number

Range: Any real number

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is a function and it is also a line. I can tell from the equation, because it is in the y=mx+b format.

Linear

y=1

Domain: Any real number

Range: y=1

This is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is a function and it is also a line. I can tell from the equation, because there isn’t more then one variable and it is in the y=mx+b format.

Non-Linear

y=2x

Domain: 1>x>0

Range: 1>y>0

This is not a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is not shown as a line, it has a curve in it. I can tell from the equation, because it is not in the y=mx+b format.

Non-Linear

x2+y2=16

Domain: -4<x<4

Range: -4<y<4

This is/is not a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is not a function and it is not in a line. I can tell from the equation, because it is not in the y=mx+b format.

Self Assesment

I explored mathematical ideas using technology when I was using DESMOS. DESMOS helped me graph and visualize what the graphs look like, and then asses if the graph is linear, non-linear, a function, or not a function.

I analyzed data and used criteria to draw conclusions when I looked at the graphs that DESMOS gave me. I also analyzed data when I looked the the equations and checked if they were linear or non-linear.

I justified my conclusions with evidence when I checked in with me peers and compared our answers and checked if they were correct or if I needed to change them up a bit. I also looked back into my notes to remind myself of the rules and equations for graphing.
