CPR Reflection

During this CPR unit there were a lot of things I’ve learned and considered. Some of things I’ve learned are how dangerous heart conditions are and that I need to be aware on my diet. I learned what happens to your heart when you have a heart attack, stroke, and cardiac arrest. I wasn’t aware of the signs of when people were going to have a heart attack, stroke, chocking, etc. A key takeaway from learning CPR is to fibrillate the heart we need to use a defibrillator which is an AED, our brain also stops working after 4-6 minutes not getting oxygen. This unit connects to the nutrition unit. Both unit teaches us to be aware of our diet, that vegetables, fruits, and grains makes our body healthy. This CPR unit teaches myself to be aware of my diet, how to save someone when they’re unconscious, and what happens during heart conditions.

Self-Assessments of Core Competency:

  1. I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. By making notes for the test
  2. I work with others to achieve a goal. Acting with my partner during CPR practice using the doll and AED
  3. I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. I know what to do and what CPR is for
  4. I can apply constructive strategies to navigate misunderstandings and conflicts. During any CPR/chocking scenarios, I know and understand what to do first.
