R3 – Japanese Mascots

The mascot I chose is called Sokochi-kun, I chose this mascot as it looks nice and cute. Most Canadian mascots are associated with sports and is used as a symbol for a certain sports team. On the contrary, mascots in Japan are commonly used in everything. They are used to represent prefectures in Japan, event, organization, and businesses. Mascots are popular in japan because they’ve used them since long ago and they help Japanese companies form public relations. Personally, having a similar intake on mascots as Japanese people would not benefit Canadians. Although if Coquitlam did have a mascot, my idea would be a cloud or something related to the cloudiness and rainy weather of the city. Living in Coquitlam made me realize how the weather is either raining or cloudy. Therefore, having a cloud as Coquitlam’s mascot would be great as it represents a lot of the weather.
