Public Speaking

Overall, I learned new things about public speaking that could’ve learned in the past that could help me. New things I learned was 1 for powerpoints look at the laptop screen instead of looking back, this helped me a lot for looking more focused into my parts and easily reading on what parts I need to do in case I forgot. I also tried not looking directly at the audience but looking slightly higher as it took away any stuttering that I used to have with public speaking before. I also as part of audience just payed attention without doing anything silly to distract the presenter. I felt more comfortable speaking with the recent powerpoints than the past with these new tricks.

Collaborating Core Competency Reflection

My four prompts I chose were:

1. I show others that I truly value their contributions by… I chose this one because in this project I showed to my partner I have a strength on making the picture of our mutation.
2. I am clear on the difference between simple “group work” and collaboration as evidenced by… I chose this because one way I am clear on the difference is that collaboration has a bigger role, you are responsible for the project in case the partner can’t work on it.
3. If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to… I chose this because I find it helpful to solve what is the better option to go with in cases like what art should we use.
4. Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include… I chose this because some of the ways we divide the work is on which person has what strength and weakness, therefore we can work efficiently and evenly.

One goal I have going forward is to just work on my weaknesses so that in bigger roles of a project I dont have to face problems.
