Core Competency Reflection

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when my teacher gave me a sentence starter website. I demonstrated this by using the website to help get a good starting sentence. It helped me start my story.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is the structure for a short story. I demonstrated this by using that structure in my short story. It helped a lot in my draft.

When faced with ambiguity or setbacks, I ask my peers and teachers for help to advance the development of my ideas. I demonstrated this when I didn’t know what to name my characters and when I had questions about grammar/formatting.

An example of where I took a significant risk in the expected process was never! I feel like I don’t take many risks when writing short stories. My goal is to take more risks when writing. I’m working on this because I think it’ll improve my writing. I will do this by going with my gut instead of hesitating while writing.
