Creating a Positive Digitial Footprint

Personal/ Social Competency Reflection
I think my experiences as a digital citizen, such as gaming influenced my choice of hobbies as many of the video games I play involve sports like soccer and basketball which I play almost every day. By playing these games I learn more about sports which helps my knowledge of the games in real life much better. My experiences as a digital citizen also helped influence some of the courses I took in school like business 10 as it’s a course mostly done on computers and the ideas learned in the course are similar to many video games I play.
I make digital ethical choices such as keeping my accounts private which helps ensure only people I know can see the stuff I post. Having my location off and not giving my location to apps or sources that ask for them also help ensure my safety which is a #1 priority. When I’m online, there are many negative things, so I try my best to keep what I post positive, Like a post or a repost on my Instagram. Finally, to make ethical choices I will try and think before I do anything online or in my everyday life as it’s a good skill to learn and can help me make positive choices I won’t later on regret.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are playing video games with my friends and engaging with new people in different games. Doing this helps me learn how different gaming communities work and if a certain video game is right for me. By trying out different games I build strong relationships with the people I play with and build good chemistry and friendships along with that. Video games have been a huge help to me over the past year and especially during quarantine as they gave me something to do and still be able to have fun with my friends that I couldn’t see.
