I am always very busy with school work, socializing with others, and after school activities. So how do I manage to stay stress free? I’m not going to lie I feel stress a lot but when I feel stressed I make sure to deal with it in a healthy way. I start off by taking a breather, my stress normally comes from overworking on school work, by taking a breather I am able to re-group. After I take a breather I take a break. During this break I often watch a movie or listen to music. These activities help me calm down and not think too much about what is stressing me out. The last thing that I do is reflect on why I was stressed and how I can avoid feeling stressed next time.
For me technology can be a cause and a coping mechanism of stress. As I mentioned earlier I watch movies to relax, I find that I am able to forget about what’s happening at that moment and just focus on the movie. Now if I was stressed and decided to go on to a social media platform such as Instagram or Snapchat I would see pictures of everyone being relaxed and stress free and start to feel upset. I would be thinking too much about why I am feeling stressed and not about how I can de-stress. This year my stress levels have been pretty moderate. By using apps such as Netflix and FaceTime I have been able to manage my stress levels and keep them down. By using apps such as Instagram and Snapchat I have noticed that my stress levels stay the same and don’t go down.
In conclusion I am able to use different strategies such as taking breaks, using technology in a responsible way, and reflecting on what I could do in the future to de-stress. My life will never be completely stress free but by learning and finding different ways to cope I can do my best to keep my stress levels down.
