Creating a Positive Digital Footprint
Personal/Social Competency Reflection
I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences, including others being able to judge you based off what you put online. If you are posting things that make you look like a mean or rebellious person it can effect your future in a negative way. So, I adjust my actions to make sure that the way I present myself online is a positive reflection of myself. I do this by posting pictures and comments that are appropriate, kind, and necessary.
I make digital ethical choices such as checking the privacy settings on apps and websites. Sometimes when I first download an app I don’t check the privacy settings this can lead to accounts being open to the public. I have started getting into a habit of checking these settings often because I don’t want any of my pictures and personal information on the internet.
My strengths as a digital citizen include being able to research sources and information I am unsure of. On the internet there is a lot of false information so being able to do your own research is a good skill to have. As a digital citizen I am able to decide whether what I post is acceptable or not. These strengths contribute to my community because I am able to show respect for others online and I can form my own opinions that are factually correct. In school and online you should always show respect towards others because it will build a very positive environment.
