My Model Town

Creating a model factory town

Name of the town: Aether Town

Company Name: Aether Water Mill

Resources available: Water, field, crops, and transportation

Elements of the town: Wide land, factories, pathways, fences, mountains

Population: 284 peoples (Living In Aether)

Explanation / Brief History: A town of peace, amongst the mountain and a wide-open terrain that carries the gentle sea breeze. The land was found by Maria. It was the perfect location where natural resources and water sources could be gathered easily. Many believed that the founder Maria was a gift from the sky from the fast mechanization and discoveries that supported the town to gain attention. Therefore it was named Aether, the god of the shining light of the blue sky. Many travellers visited Aether because it is one of the world’s main attractions. Having enough money, I started a textile factory. I used the nearby water source to power the watermill. It was a huge success and made a living in the town of Aether.

Media Fluency Reflection

A. How was the ease of access in building the town, despite this being a very super basic software?

Building the town with this software was simple and easy. The instructions was not hardcore so I understood right away.

B. Were you able to apply the skills you learned in the planning stages appropriately to a digital environment?

Yes, I was able to apply the skill from digital learning. I drew a rough draft on paper and used my digital skills to transport my paper draft on to screen.

C. What were the sources you researched that made this an “authentic make-believe” town?

I had some inspiration on what my town would look like based on the pictures from worksheets, but mostly was just made up while I drew.

D. Is there other software online that could have done the job better? Explain.

Yes, there are probably better softwares to build a town or any model. It may just be more complex and better details on each building blocks. It could also be three dimensions and the angels may have been different but this online software was easy to work with and would definitely try again.
