My Poem

bloody heels in the air

head in the water

not drowning but restricted

only able to watch, one after another

ill, upset, or plagued with problems

focus, they need it

so, keep quiet

or don’t

and have your head in the air

feet in the sand

and sun on your face

Core Competency Reflection

I can take the information we learned about identity by conveying mine in an artistic and creative way, such as in the poem above. I can also generate ideas that help the creative process and keep going when one idea doesn’t work out. Such as during this poem writing I had a few drafts before I found the right words and structure to use. I can accept setbacks and failures, I had many drafts before I even came to this idea and was frustrated but eventually I can to the new concept.
