MY FUTURE CAREER

In my future path, My goal is to go to university here in Vancouver specifically at Simon Fraser University, and study either Kinesiology or Business I am not sure as of right now. But those two were my main two choices since grade 9. And if I was to chose kinesiolgy I would have to go study 4 years post secondary and more to get my license, if I wanted to pursue being a Physical Therapist or go into Sports Sciences. And with Business I would still also have to complete four years post secondary to be able to get a job in that field, whether it is in Marketing or Finance. I want to go to Simon Fraser University because the campus is really close and accesible for me if I was to use public transit. To reach my goal, I will need to continue to study hard, get good grades and make sure I meet the aquirements to be able to apply to one of those fields. I also will have to get enough money to pay for everything so I will have to get a part time job and also search for some scjholarships that I can get. Therefore to reach my goal I will have to keep working hard and go through a long road to get towards my goal but I am confident I can reach it.

Core Competency Reflection

I can form new ideas to create new things, and I can also build off of others, I demonstrate this in group projects I think of my own ideas and my partners do the same and I can use their ideas and make a better choice that everyone would agree with.

I can develop a body of creative work over time, I demonstrate this for example in school, when I get a assignment or project which I have about a week to complete, I wont get the perfect idea right when I start, but in a few days into doing it I start to think of better ideas and more creative work which at the end of the assignment or porject I made something that was creative and well done.

I can ask more open-ended questions to gather information, I demonstrate this in class by asking for example where are we going for pe tomorrow? or what are the rules of this game, etc. I always ask lots of open ended questions to help me gather information and get a better understanding everyday.

I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas, I chose this one because I need to improve myself in the part of expecting setbacks and failures because whenever I hit a roadblock or fail on something I fail to develop better ideas or most of the time takes me longer to think of any ideas. So I want to improve that and to do so I will start to fix the way I feel about the setback and instead try to use that as motivation or use it to help me think of something even better, and that way I believe i can get towards my goal.

Personal Health & Awareness

I respectfully advocate for my needs by making sure I am always up to date with all my work and make sure I am never missing any work because I don’t like having lots of work not handed in on time. I feel very unorganized, so I always ensure I am all caught up even if I miss some days. Ways I can do this is to email my teacher and make sure I know everything I should from what I missed and that ensures I am up to date and I know what to do. I try to respectfully advocate for myself in my daily life to make myself feel organized and on the right track. When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take breaks whenever I’m studying or doing homework, for example, I take a break from doing homework and go on my phone for a few minutes to rejuvenate my brain, sometimes I go outside to my backyard and shoot some hockey pucks or play basketball which helps me and after I always feel ready and focused to continue finishing my work.

Core Competency

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. For example, In PE, I listen to the teacher or peer tutor about the rules and how to play the game/sport, and for any of my classmates who were late or weren’t paying attention, I can explain to them the rules in a clear organized way.

I advocate for myself. I demonstrate this by emailing the teacher about what I missed, for example, where are we going tomorrow for class, or what work have I missed. Things like that are some of the ways I can advocate for myself.

I can also build on the ideas of others. I can demonstrate this for example If we needed to think of what to play in class I could say basketball and another one of my classmates might say another sport, basically I can create ideas but also build off of others and get to a conclusion of whats best.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. I can demonstrate this for example in pe class when I score a goal or score a point, I show accomplishment and celebrate, same thing with my work, when I do well on a test I feel good and I take pride in knowing I did good on something I worked for.

I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas. I chose this because it’s one I want to work towards getting better at because personally, I’m not very patient in the sense of for example taking a while to think of ideas or do things after failing to accomplish them because I easily get down on myself and have no motivation to try again and most of the time I just don’t feel like it. So to get toward my goal I’m going to start trying to change my mentality and instead of getting down on myself so easily and quitting instead use that to motivate me to continue and work harder and if I slowly continue to do this strategy I believe I can get good with this competency.
