Reflecting on English Studies 12

My Artifact

Curricular Competency Reflection

In this journal entry for “All Quiet on the Western Front,” I significantly improved my skills in critical analysis, literary understanding, and effective communication. What I am most proud of is my ability to express thoughtful comments about the book’s depiction of the emotional toll that war has on people. I learned the importance of developing arguments with strong evidence and developing my writing style for emphasis and clarity from this assignment.

Core Competency Reflection

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by demonstrating my strong understanding when answering a question, for example during the novel study circle I was able to show my knowledge about my book by being able to relate themes from it to others in my group. Also being able to use quotes to backup an idea or opinion I had which helped build the groups discussion.

Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are from my dedication to learning and experimenting, building brainstorming techniques, being able to come up with ideas quickly and efficiently. I also improved my skillset in time management, which has been a valuable skill to me, having enough time to finish all assignments and handing it in on time has been a huge help for me and my overall growth in the class this semester.
