Our Utopian City

Snowberg City

Safety:
Buildings we can use for safety: Hospital, pharmacy, police, fire department.
We value safety in our city because it is important that everyone feels at ease with no fear of destruction, or death. When people get injured, they know there is somewhere they can go for help.

Eco-friendly:
Trees, animals together. Houses not interfering with them. Also, the green house
Though it is crucial to prosper in the city, we also must keep the environment healthy. It is important to keep the animals and trees in a place where city gases, or buildings will not affect it. (Forest area bottom left with deer) Greenhouse allows plants to grow in a healthy area. Which is also a food source for the community.

Education:
School, school board, preschool/daycare, learning center.
Education is important in our city because everyone should have the right to be able to learn, so that in the future, they can use their knowledge to thrive in their jobs. When people learn, they can use their skills to build a better future for themselves and the others around them.

Unity:
In the community, everyone has a part to play. They all come together to do their jobs and keep the city running. Children playing together and people falling in love shows the unity and love in the city and how everyone is bonded together.

Kindness:
A key value in our city, is kindness. Whenever one needs help, there is no doubt that someone will come along and be happy to help. Examples: When someone falls on the ground/ in water or shoveling when the roads get blocked by the snowfall.

Symbols:

In our city, the colour green stands for its environment friendly virtues. As you can see in the map, the trees in the forest are green, as well as the greenhouse, which is also part of the making a healthy environment.
The people of the town, symbolize the kindness and unity of the community. They show that making healthy relationships, and connections with others, builds the foundation of those elements.
The last main symbol of the city is the animals. They show that it is an eco-friendly place, as well as an animal-friendly place for many critters to roam, not just humans.

Communication Reflection

The project was about using creativity to design a city with values that are important to you. The program we used was a website called City Creator. Me and my partner communicated in-person and exchanged contacts. We listened to each other’s ideas by writing down our values, then sharing them with each other deciding on the final 5 we would do. We would provide feedback by going over the notes we typed for each value and suggesting a way to design our city. We decided to both share the responsibilities when one person designed, and one person wrote about the values. Then we would switch, so the other person has a chance to design or write things as well. Each member contributed fairly because we both put the same amount of effort, and basically halved the work in the writing process. I think we worked well because it was easy to communicate and ask questions together. We also used our time wisely as we were done with the design and value description in one class. We finished the project in one day, and we only had the reflections and Edu blog post left to do. Decisions were made when we both agreed and shared about our ideas. There weren’t many problems, but maybe it was hard to share the city creator map, but we worked it out when we decided to work, then switch as I explained before. I am satisfied with the final product because the map was made efficiently without wasting time. Maybe a way we can improve is making decisive choices as we were both indecisive about the name of the city.
