PHE 10 AH Reflection

Artifact

Usually before PHE I am tired because it is the first block in the morning. But as the block progresses I slowly start to gain energy when playing sports and involving myself in Physical activity.

Today I am not feeling well and I did not go to school today because I am sick with covid.

Personal Health & Awareness

When I am sad, angry or frustrated, I would take breaks to cool off my mind. This includes going on a short stroll around my neighbourhood, taking a nap, or listening to music. I would try to take my mind off what is troubling me and just quiet down my thoughts. This allows me to stay calm and move on to whatever comes next because eventually better things will come along. A lot of times it is hard to stay calm especially when being frustrated with another person but I try to calmly solve the problem or not say anything to escalate an argument.

To celebrate an accomplishment like receiving an award, getting a desired grade for a course, or as simple as finishing a project, I treat myself in various ways. For the bigger accomplishments like awards, my family would sometimes celebrate with me by eating out for dinner. As for more simple accomplishments like finishing some homework, I treat myself with “me-time”. Since I finished the homework on my plate I reward myself by watching youtube or some TV shows or movies.

Core Competency Reflection

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. I showed this when I won all of the matches I played in the badminton singles tournament for PHE. As well as when I son the Two-up tournament for Basketball unit. I was proud of what I had accomplished.

I take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. I showed this when playing sports like ultimate, soccer, basketball, and more. I tried my best to be an asset to the team by staying open and ready to receive passes from my teammates.

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. I notice which skills I am good at and try to use them to my potential. For example in Ultimate I was good at passing, so I would use the strength when trying to win points for my team.

I persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning behavior. I demonstrated this when in the Football unit, on the first day I couldn’t throw the football correctly with a spin. I had a goal for next class to throw better and I asked others for help and tips. I ended up being able to throw the football correctly after the second day of the unit.

I participate in classroom or group activities that improve the class, school, or community. As for this core competency, I am trying to work on this more. I do participate but sometimes I am feeling tired or unmotivated and sometimes just stand there for Dodgeball. I want to work on participating more.
