Critical and Reflective Thinking

I think our criminal justice system should be more punitive because I feel like we should be able to give life sentences (not 25 years) but for your whole life. If you commit very harsh first-degree murder, I think you should go to jail for the rest of your life. Another reason why I think this is because some people don’t learn from their mistakes and will still be a threat to society. We won’t change our criminal justice system to this, but I think it will impact our environment in a safer way.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I can do this by looking at a case and making judgments based on evidence that the crown or defense provide. I make my opinions based on evidence that is valid and what I believe is true.

Is it a function?

My equation is a function because when I was doing the vertical line test the vertical line only touched one point. It is not a one-to-one function because when I was doing the horizontal line test the horizontal line touched more than one point.

Give an example from this assignment where you represented the same mathematical idea in multiple ways?

I represented the same mathematical idea in multiple ways by using an equation and a graph to represent the domain and range. I used the graph to show what the equation would look like on a graph. I was able to figure out the domain and range through the equation also.

Give an example from this assignment where you used mathematical vocabulary to demonstrate your understanding.

I used mathematical vocabulary such as: domain, range, function, one-to-one function, the vertical line test, and the horizontal line test. These words helped me with my understanding because it helped me explain if it was a function and/or one-to-one function. They also helped me explain the domain and range. I used the vertical line test to show it was a function. I used the horizontal line test to show it wasn’t a one-to-one function.

Give an example from this assignment where you used formatting to share the information in a clear and organized way.

I used formatting such as highlighting the points where it proves if it is a function and one-to-one function to clearly show it. I also used big bold headings for the different areas of this assignment to share my information clearly.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I think of the fun events that happened in my life. In this project I showed some fun events that make me happy.

Some of the things I do to stay mentally healthy include reflecting on my past. This makes me stay mentally healthy because I love thinking about lovely memories. In my project I showed this by reflecting on many things that happened in my life.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is making a legend for my roadmap. I didn’t think of this until someone mentioned it and I found it very helpful.

I want to work on my communication as a goal moving forward. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in… I want to work on showing this because it’s good that you clearly communicate what you want to say to people. I don’t think I do this that well. I will do this by writing out my thoughts more clearly in assignments.

I showed communication by talking to my group members about ideas. I asked them if they agreed with my ideas, and we would communicate if they didn’t.

I showed creative thinking by thinking of what activity to choose for the script. I wanted to be more creative than others therefore I thought the beach would be perfect.

Collaborating was a big thing that was used in this assignment. I collaborated with others by working in a group. We would share our thoughts and work as a team.

Curricular Response/Conservation of mass activity

My prediction was not a good one. I didn’t consider that reaction two would have a closed system. Now that I know the results some things I could’ve considered while making my prediction was that the balloon would hold in the gases. I should have thought of that before to make a better prediction.

Self-Assessment

I developed and formed ideas by going off of the things I know and the lessons from the past. I build upon others’ ideas by listening to what they have to say and putting that into consideration. A strategy that helped me think of new ideas was looking at my notes and asking questions on things I didn’t understand. Next time I would like to improve on listening more during the lesson before this lab because I didn’t listen much, and it would help if I did.

Critical and Reflective Thinking

On September 9, 1939, eight days after Germany’s invasion of Poland, Canada’s Parliament voted to declare war on Germany, which the country did the next day. This was important because the countries were joining together to fight the Nazi’s. It was also important because it was one of Canada’s first big decisions as an independent country. They joined the war on their own will. Back in WW1 they were under the British Empire’s control. I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I do this in class by analyzing the information that is spoken and make judgements on it in my projects and notes.

Core Competency Goals

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to do things my way. I shouldn’t do this because others peoples opinions need to be valued too. This semester my goal is to value others more and listen on what they have to say. I will do this by letting others speak more than myself.

I know the group is working well together when I see everyone getting along and working hard. I sometimes tend to get distracted and get off task. My goal for this semester is to stay focused. I will do this by listening to the teacher.

Some of the ways I work to build and maintain relationships are talking to everyone around me. I sometimes talk a little too much. My goal for this semester is to still talk to everyone but not during class because it will distract others. I will do this by staying focused about my work in class.
